B i o g r a p h y

Jazmine grew up in the beautiful hills of Harcourt North in Central Victoria and attended school in Bendigo. She began flute lessons at the age of 7 and throughout the following years completed several AMEB exams on both flute and piano, as well as AMEB theory.

 

Throughout her time playing in the high school jazz band, Jazmine began to experiment with improvisation, arrangement and composition. Upon entering her final school years, Jazmine studied VCE Music Performance (Flute) and Music Styles and Composition. Jazmine received the Bendigo Senior Music Styles and Composition Excellence Award and was shortlisted for 'Bendigo Senior Musician of the Year' for her performance of Density 21.5 by Edgard Varese for solo flute. Jazmine was also shortlisted for 'Student of the Year' for her extra curricular music work, including her performance in the Victorian State School Spectacular Orchestra.

 

In 2013, Jazmine had her work for 2 flute and piano 'Untitled in C minor', reach the finals of the Australian Flute Festival Composition Competition, where it was performed at Australian National University in Canberra.

 

Jazmine completed her Bachelor of Music at Monash University in 2015, majoring in flute performance. Jazmine studied with Sylvie Leprohon and still continues to perform with the Monash Flute Ensemble, under the baton of Peter Sheridan.

 

Jazmine can be heard playing with the Monash Flute Ensemble on 'Fantasie Australis', a CD released in 2013 by MOVE Records and 'Labyrinths of Lowness', a CD released in 2015 by Wirripang Ptd Ltd.

 

Jazmine's works 'In The Hills' and 'Three Short Pieces' can be heard on 'Labyrinths of Lowness'. The sheet music for these pieces was published in 2015 and can be purchased through the publisher, Wirripang.

 

Jazmine began Master of Teaching at Monash University in 2016.
